Gardening as Therapy

I spent most of the morning at a nearby Garden Centre, buying some new herbs and pots for our balcony herb garden. I've alway known for a long time that gardening is tremendously therapeutic and can be a great stress-reliever. When we connect with living nature, our primal instincts seem to emerge and we almost become the hunter/gatherer again!

Garden centres or nurseries are always calm and peaceful; no Muzak coming over speakers, no rushing and pushing. People are, for the most part, drifting along, examining the plants and pots, being creatively imaginative by wondering how they will fit in with the garden at home.
This is a great exercise in visualisation, sensory development and becoming focussed. And often there is a pleasant coffee or tea shop in the centre where you can just chill and watch the people interact.
So this is what we did this Saturday morning and came back with some lettuces and a fennel which have just become part of our balcony garden!
