Sweet Basil - new addition.
I've had perennial Basil for decades. In fact the bush I now have, is a descendant of my original plant. Over the years I've grown cuttings, given them away and grown new plants. Basil's rich, spicy flavour is especially wonderful in salads with tomato and as a base for pesto.
Medicinally it is a terrific pick-me-up as an infusion with honey or even by crushing a few leaves and inhaling the aromatic oils.
With summer coming I wanted some of the Sweet Basil which is a softer leaf, not as pungent, but it just makes a salad so much more interesting.
These go into a medium size pot and I've used a trough and filled it up with Sweet Basil as I'm going to be really indulging this summer!
